We wanted to share details of this amazing (and fun!) new initiative with our filmmaking community. Spread the word!
Exeter Phoenix have partnered with D&C Film to offer one Devon or Cornwall-based filmmaker access to £800 in cash funding and £1500 of in-kind support towards the production of a short film of any genre, which is up to 7 minutes in length.
Four of the best ideas will be invited to pitch their film at Two Short Nights Film Festival (Thursday 5th March 2026) at a Live Pitch Event. One will win the chance to turn their ideas into a short film.
So, who can apply?
The D&C Film Emerging Filmmaker Fund is open to:
- Individuals with a permanent address in Devon or Cornwall. Applicants must be able to prove their address.
- Those who are 18 or over when applying.
- The D&C Film Emerging Filmmaker Fund is aimed at early career filmmakers and those with limited experience in short filmmaking who are looking to develop their skills and experience. Writers, producers, directors, with a variety of experience are also encouraged but it’s not essential to be specialised at this stage.
Do make sure you read the Guidelines before submitting your application.
Applications close 12pm Wednesday 11 February 2026.
Good luck!
