Our Story
Our goal is simple. We are passionate about putting Devon on screen and we want to be recognised as one of the UK’s most film-friendly counties.
Our role is to help creatives realise their ambitions and provide support in making all aspects of the filming process run as smoothly as possible.
We are a highly experienced team, able to draw on an abundance of on-the-ground knowledge. And we are well connected to a network of crews, suppliers and partners working to grow the county’s production activity.
We are fiercely proud of our diverse locations and creative talent and we work hard to nurture, celebrate and promote Devon’s thriving screen industry.

“I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse on Dartmoor.”
Steven Spielberg
Why Devon?
We could let Spielberg say it all for us, but we’ll elaborate…
Devon is such a remarkable patchwork of colour, charm and beauty. From its breathtaking coastline, vast rugged moors, dark starry skies and atmospheric backdrops – the county has all location bases covered. Just look to some of the most recent films we’ve hosted and be inspired by the endless possibilities.
But the secret that many production companies are discovering is that Devon offers so much more than the National Parks and epic beaches we’re known for. We do drama, we do history and we do it all at scale.
From stunning stately homes, to spellbinding woodland, thatched villages nestled amidst rolling hills and two cities brimming with striking architecture. Add into the mix five National Landscapes, two World Heritage sites, a UNESCO biosphere reserve and Exeter’s status as UNESCO City of Literature – it’s no wonder that Devon is considered special among filmmakers.
And when you’re here, you’ll be well supported via a growing army of suppliers and crew all keen to deliver.
We are supported by:
East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, Mid Devon District Council, North Devon Council, Torridge District Council, Plymouth Culture and University of Exeter.
